7 platforms for ESTIA-RECHERCHE

To encourage each company to adopt the new technologies promoted by the 5 platforms, the missions of all the platforms, managed by ESTIA-TECH, are :

  • research and development, in partnership with industrial players, to initiate and run Research and Development programmes,
  • Training, by offering skills and equipment to ESTIA's engineering and bachelors students,
  • Technology transfer, by supporting industrial companies (SMEs, ETIs, major groups) in integrating the new solutions developed.

Research and technology transfer platform in the field of metal additive manufacturing

Set up in 2017, covering more than 1,000 m2, ADDIMADOUR makes it possible to turn industrial proofs of concept into reality at part sizes that no centre currently offers. It supports companies from A to Z in their metal additive manufacturing projects, from ideation right through to the manufacturable part. It transfers projects from low levels of maturity to companies. It improves knowledge of metal additive manufacturing.

Composites and robotics technical platform specialising in the processing of Composite Materials

Founded in 2010, COMPOSITADOUR is a 2,000 m2 technology platform specialising in advanced processes: Composites and Robotics. A genuine platform for experimenting with the digital and robotic technologies of the Factory of the Future, COMPOSITADOUR offers cutting-edge equipment and mobilises its network of skills from laboratories, SMEs and major industrial groups to develop innovative projects.

Electrical and Automatic Engineering Platform for Renewable Energies

Created in 2006, the EneRGEA platform has at its core a modular and flexible smart grid, made up of energy sources, storage systems, loads and converters that enable a real electrical network to be reproduced on a laboratory scale. The platform was enhanced in 2013 with the acquisition of a three-phase power amplifier. EneRGEA combines skills in power electronics and control for the integration of renewable energy sources and storage (hybrid energy storage systems), for energy management and optimisation, through the management of power quality and network stability, as well as demand management. It conducts studies for main grid connection and islanding operations for microgrids, including building-scale microgrids.

Evaluation, Prototyping & Usability Testing Platform

Set up in 2010, this 400m2 facility is open to creators, designers and organisers, enabling them to evaluate innovative concepts combining the digital and physical worlds from a human factors perspective. It offers an instrumented innovation space for observing, characterising and analysing the behaviour of future users of services and products, in terms of use, appropriation, and even in terms of analysing the emotions aroused by use. Emotion is a determining factor in the operation and performance of a system, and it is useful to assess emotional experiences during action, for example in a work situation. The tools and methods mastered at PEPSS enable performance to be assessed in innovative interaction situations such as tangible interfaces, 3D interfaces, virtual and augmented reality. It therefore enables manufacturers and entrepreneurs to carry out tests before putting their product to the test in front of their public and their market. Combined with ESTIA's fab lab, PEPSS can be used to prototype innovative systems, offering new types of human-human and human-system interaction.

Platform for innovative aeronautical propulsion.

Created in 2023, Turbolab is a technology platform dedicated to innovative, low-carbon, high-performance aeronautical propulsion systems. It is co-sponsored by ESTIA, AKIRA Technologies and the Basque Country urban community. It is the first in France to offer a full spectrum of expertise in aeronautical propulsion systems, addressing crucial issues such as the electrification and hybridisation of systems, alternative fuels, lighter structures and materials, and manufacturing processes. This platform is shared between industry, research and education.
